Steven's Mazda Miata '92

As a professional webdeveloper I should be ashamed of putting this web live. Then again, I don't have the time at this moment to create something interactive. Please check again within a few weeks!

This page is dedicated to my '92 Mazda Miata. The car, originally white, was imported from the US (Miami, Florida to be more precise) in 1996. Being an "A" package, the Miata was pretty standard: it had power steering, alloy wheels, leather wrapped steering wheel and a factory AM/FM cassette. The only extra option that was added is air conditioning. I got the car in may 2000. As far as I could tell, the previous owner had taken very good care of it. I don't think this little car will ever have another owner...

Current list of modifications

  • Repainted in metallic black (Alfa Romeo's "Nero Metallic")
  • Fitted a new softtop
  • Lowered the car about 1" on Eibach springs
  • Alloys with 215/40/16 tyres (Fulda Carat Extremo)
  • Alarm with power door locks
  • Installed "flash-to-pass" diode
  • Replaced standard sealed beams with Hella's & H4 bulbs
  • Chromed retro-bar in M-shape
  • Chromed luggage rack

Things that are still on my wish list

  • Chromed vent rings (TT-style)
  • Sporty shift knob (chromed, leather, ...)
  • White gauges with red needles
  • Chromed door sill protectors with black "Miata"-logo
  • Headrest speakers

I think this color is much nicer than white! Notice the lights on the side, typical for US cars. The red ones on the back are not allowed in Belgium.

The Mazda Miata is a modern sportscar without any question, but i I think they hold the spirit of '60 roadsters. The retro bar and the luggage rack both emphasize this.

The interior is still pretty standard except for the handbrake sleeve and the gearlever surround, both in polished steel. The radio is a simple Sony CD-player.

This picture show the car's color, Alfa Romeo's Nero Metallic. Athough it's called Nero (italian for black) it's more like a very dark gray.

I really like these pop-up headlights; they make the car look sweet! I installed the "flash-to-pass" diode to support the Miata-wave.
